Getting started

What is Splitser?

Splitser is a free app for splitting expenses with friends, family and roommates. You add shared bills to a group, and Splitser tracks who owes whom and helps everyone settle up.

Do I need to download anything?

No. Splitser is a Progressive Web App that runs in any browser. You can optionally add it to your home screen to use it like a native app, with offline support on mobile.

Do the people I add need an account?

No. You can add anyone to a group by name. They only need to sign up if they want to log in and see balances for themselves.

Is Splitser free?

Yes. Creating groups, adding expenses and settling up are free forever. Splitser Pro is an optional upgrade that adds extras like receipt scanning and unlimited groups.

Splitting expenses

How do I split an expense?

Add an expense, choose who paid and who it's for, and pick how to split it. Splitser instantly updates everyone's balance.

What split methods are supported?

Four: equal (split evenly), exact amounts, percentage, and shares/parts. You can use a different method for each expense.

Can I split expenses in different currencies?

Yes. Splitser supports 150+ currencies with daily exchange rates, so groups spread across countries always see fair totals.

Can I add receipts, notes and categories?

Yes. Each expense can include a note, a category and a receipt image. Receipt scanning and itemized expenses are available on Pro.

Settling up

How does settling up work?

When it's time to square up, Splitser shows exactly who should pay whom. You make the payment by any method (cash, bank, UPI), then mark it as paid.

What is debt simplification?

Splitser's smart settle-up reduces a tangle of IOUs into the fewest possible payments — six debts in a group might become just two transfers.

Does Splitser move the money?

No. Splitser is not a bank. It records the amounts you enter and tells you who owes whom — the actual transfer happens directly between you and the other person.

Payments & Pro

What does Splitser Pro include?

Unlimited groups, unlimited expenses and full history, receipt scanning, itemized expenses and priority support.

How much is Pro and how do I pay?

Pro is ₹99 for a full year. There's no automated payment gateway — you pay via a UPI QR code from any UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or BHIM).

How long until Pro is activated?

Payments are verified manually, usually within 5–10 minutes. Once confirmed, your account is upgraded to Pro and you'll see it reflected in the app.

Does Pro renew automatically?

No. Pro is a one-time payment for a full year with no recurring charge. When the year ends, simply pay again via UPI to continue.

Are payments refundable?

No. All payments are final and non-refundable, including any unused portion of your term. Because there's a 7-day free trial, you can evaluate Pro fully before paying.

Do you offer a student discount?

Yes — 50% off Pro for verified students. Email support after signing up to apply it.

Privacy & security

Is my data safe?

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and passwords are hashed. We never sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Do you store my card or bank details?

No. Because Pro is paid via UPI, your financial credentials stay with your own UPI app and bank — we only record a transaction reference to verify the payment.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes. You can delete your account at any time from your settings, and request export or deletion of your data by emailing privacy@splitser.in.
