Privacy Policy

Account information: your name, email address, password (stored hashed) and an optional profile photo.

Expense data: the amounts, descriptions, group memberships, currencies and timestamps you add to the app.

Payment information: when you upgrade to Pro, you pay ₹99 via UPI. We record your UPI transaction reference and payment confirmation so we can manually verify the payment and activate your subscription. We never collect or store your card number, bank account details or UPI PIN.

Device & usage data: IP address, browser/OS and basic analytics about how the Service is used.

Cookies & local storage: we use cookies and your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to let Splitser work offline as a Progressive Web App (PWA).

To provide and improve the Service — compute balances, sync across your devices and send reminders.

To verify your UPI payment and activate or manage your Pro access.

To communicate with you about your account, security and product updates (you can opt out of marketing emails).

To detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse and technical issues.

We do not sell your personal data.

We share data only with: (a) other members of groups you join — they can see shared expenses, balances and your display name; (b) trusted service providers such as hosting and email, under strict contractual obligations; (c) authorities when required by law.

Splitser is not a bank and does not move money between users. We only record the amounts you enter — actual transfers happen directly between you and the other person.

We retain your data while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion to comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.

Payment and transaction records may be retained longer where required by applicable tax and accounting laws.

You may request export or deletion of your data at any time.

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Passwords are hashed with industry-standard algorithms.

Because payments are made through UPI and we never store card or bank details, your financial credentials stay with your own UPI app and bank.

No system is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your account credentials private.

You may access, correct, update or delete your personal data and request a copy of it. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may also withdraw consent at any time. Email privacy@splitser.in to make a request.

Splitser is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a child without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or an in-app notice.
